Annual Benefit Dinner
October 12, 2021100 Women Initiative
February 11, 2022Earlier this fall, our Executive Director was challenged to come up with a year-end theme that would be used to help others focus on three different aspects of Helping Hands; this theme is “The Future is at Hand!”
This theme, and the first focus aspect of it, was revealed at our Benefit event in October, throughout the production of the event and in the Director’s message. “The Future is at Hand!” centers on youth and on the importance of reaching children of the families we serve—because after all, THEY are our future.
Helping Hands’ programs and services are focused on helping parents that in turn will benefit their children, strengthening the entire family as a whole. Take “Penny,” for example. Penny was just a little girl when she came to Helping Hands with her family and found a safe place. She soon began confiding the horrific things that had happened to her and were continuing almost daily… thankfully Helping Hands was able to intervene.
But her grief. Her trauma. It is devastating that not only her, but countless other children, express crises and stress in their very own homes, in this very community.
So, what are we going to do about it?
The programs and support that we offer at Helping Hands are created to be an intervention in the intergenerational cycles of child abuse and neglect, as well as poverty and a wide range of other issues impacting the future of our community, and ultimately our country.
We hope you will join us in the fight for a brighter and healthier future for the next generation.
