Seasons Changing

What season are you experiencing? Is it the anticipation of the Holiday season? Is it dread because a loved one isn’t with you this year? Is it a season of growth or a season of hardship? Do you long for things to be different, for a new season to come, or do you wish for things to stay exactly as they are now? Regardless of the season you are in, you are not alone. Your heart might be breaking, or rejoicing, but either way, don’t let the enemy tell you for one second that you are alone.

Are You Doing a Shadow Activity?

What’s a shadow activity? In April, Brandy attended a conference where you could pick from a variety of workshops to attend. She picked one on perfectionists, and she said, "I am sure you are shocked to learn that I struggle with perfectionism. As I like to call it, I am a recovering perfectionist. If you are not one, you may be surprised to learn that perfectionists struggle with, and sometimes refuse to, complete an activity or task that they know may not turn out “perfect.” So instead, they perform a similar activity or task, that makes them feel like they are doing work, but really, they are just avoiding the task that needs done.

The Odd Duck

For years now, we’ve realized that Helping Hands doesn’t “fit in”. We are like the odd-looking duck sitting apart from the crowd of other ducks. We almost look like a duck, but there is something that’s a little off. (Maybe it’s because our feathers are pink, we don’t know.) Can you picture it? We’ve seen this when we’ve attended Pregnancy Help conferences, we notice it when we go to non-profit meetings, shoot, we even found ourselves identifying with things at a Homeschool Convention this year. And yet, there isn’t a single category that we completely fit into.

2022 Annual Bow Campaign is Here!

The Helping Hands Annual Bow Campaign is here! Why bows? Bows signify the innocence of children—110 children in fact. There are 110 bows, representing a child placed in the foster care system during the month of February in Wells and Blackford County, for reasons that can include child abuse and neglect.
